چکیده

Abstract This paper presents a novel approach for integrating human and organisational factors into risk analysis. This approach has been developed and applied to a case study in the marine industry, but it can be utilised in other industrial sectors. The approach consists of a BBN model of the maritime transport system that has been developed by taking into account the different actors of the maritime transport system (i.e., ship-owner, shipyard, port, and the regulator) and their mutual influences. These influences have been modelled through a set of variables whose combinations express the relevant functions performed by each actor.

A Bayesian Belief Network modelling of organisational factors in risk analysis: A case study in maritime transportation

The paper presents an innovative approach to integrate Human and Organisational Factors (HOF) into risk analysis. The approach has been developed and applied to a case study in the maritime industry, but it can also be utilised in other sectors. A Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) has been developed to model the Maritime Transport System (MTS), by taking into account its different actors (i.e., shi...

Study of the Role of key risks in the trip gas sweetening unit by using Structural Equation Modeling: A case study in the Gas Refinery

Introduction: Unit risk management is a critical component of gas refining management, as risks that are not well-managed may lead to trip production failures. The present study aimed to provide a structural model for investigating the role and effect of different variables on stopping the gas production process in the gas refinery. Material and Methods: This study was a retrospective cross-se...

Identification and Evaluation of Human Errors Using Human Factor Analysis and Classification System based on Fuzzy Hierarchy Theory: A Case Study in the Cement Industry

Introduction: Human factors studies have shown that about 80% of the root causes of major accidents affecting safety, the environment or ergonomics are related to human error. The purpose of this study was to identify human errors using the HFACS method and the FAHP theory in cement industry. Methods: The present study was a retrospective study carried out in the cement industry. At first, R...
